Over my years of experience with Photographing Weddings, I thought I could share my knowledge & advice with you. Above all my advice is Enjoy your wedding day. It's your day, and with the approach to your wedding, undoubtedly, there is so much going on that it can become over whelming. Strangely enough by the time your big day comes, after all of your planning, you have so many people fussing over you from flower and cake deliveries, chauffeur, marriage celebrant / father, wedding venue coordinators, DJ and of course your photographer, that it all just rolls along and everything takes care of it's self. Be sure your photographer wants to meet you both before hand and understands what you want from your photographs. They should like to know as much detail as possible about your plans. It all helps for understanding and to keep the flow going. Obviously there is a lot to cover with your own list of things to do, even down to haviing the Bride & Bridesmaids nails done the day / night before.( But I will stick with the photography side of things, so...) If you are having a photographer come to take photographs at your home as you are getting ready, be sure to be in your day clothes when she or he arrives. After all this a story of your full day so it's good to show you casually before the dress goes on. So you are getting ready on the day. Stop for a moment . Reflect . Relax. Try a sip of your favorite tipple. It may just take the edge off your nerves. After the ceremony, you will exit back up the aisle, this is when the congregation will follow and congratulate you. This is your time and the photographers good chance to capture some great natural shots. Shortly after is time for formal group shots of family and friends, which may take place in the grounds or alter if the weather is not so obliging. An usher who is familiar with family can be a great help with organising. Confetti shot with guests usually follow. Every wedding is different, maybe you have two venues for your wedding, your photographer should pre visit these where possible for photo location opportunities. It's good to have a variation for the backdrop to your shots, but don't you worry about that, that's our job ! When it is time to take the shots of the Bride & Groom it's good to have the head bridesmaid tag along for support. She is useful from carrying your train, fetching the flowers in and out of shots and she can also top up your glass of bubbly. If all the photographing going on seams a bit much, just remember it will be worth it! The time taken between the wedding venue and your reception sit down time can sometimes be taken up solely on having photographs taken depending on how much time has been allocated. So allow more time than having to rush, and if you do not have much time time with your guests before your wedding breakfast , you soon will, and after your wedding have life long memories to hold on to in the form of...photographs.
